The history of KATHREIN's subsidiary in Austria began on this day, exactly 50 years ago, July 15, 1970. This week marks the fiftieth anniversary of the subsidiary’s foundation. For half a century now, KATHREIN has firmly established itself in Austria and is considered one of the most reliable brands for transmission and reception technology in TV, radio and mobile communication.
KATHREIN Vertriebsgesellschaft m.b.H. was founded by engineer Anton Kathrein and his son Prof. Dr. Dr. Anton Kathrein in Innsbruck, Tyrol, the home federal state of the Kathrein family. Ten years later, the company moved its headquarters to Salzburg, and again ten years later, in March 1990, the company moved into the premises at Gniglerstraße 56, 5020 Salzburg, where KATHREIN Austria is still based today.
Driven by the objective of bringing people and technology together and accompanied by intensive research, development and outstanding engineering, the company has successfully managed to achieve continuous dynamic growth over the last 50 years. Starting with classic terrestrial TV reception products, cable TV broadband and satellite reception technology, professional broadcasting technology in the TV broadcast and mobile communication, all the way to today's products in the field of streaming, digital radio or smart home security devices, KATHREIN has always been known for the reliable transmission of signals.

The signals as well as the technology are changing over time, with numerous stages of modernisation, from analogue to digital TV, Pay TV, HDTV to today's dynamically growing streaming, from GSM and UMTS to LTE and now 5G. However, and this is a crucial point, the value and, therefore, the demand placed on us as a technology company remains the same,” explained Ing.
