KATHREIN Digital Systems extremely satisfied with strongest CMT ever

High visitor frequency, strong interest, increased order volume and positive demand trends

KATHREIN Digital Systems, market leader for digital satellite, terrestrial, cable or IP signal reception and distribution, is extremely satisfied with the results of the CMT 2020 in Stuttgart, the world’s largest consumer show for tourism and leisure. This is not only due to the high number of visitors (approximately 300,000*), but also to high buying interest and the increased order volume at the trade fair. Among the most demanded KATHREIN products were the offset tripod antenna HDS 166 plus and the fully automatic systems for installation on vehicle roofs – including the compact version CAP 650 GPS, the light version CAP 750 GPS, the anniversary edition CAP 950 for customers who demand an even larger operating range as well as the new CAP 850 GPS with its particularly impressing low installation height of less than 17cm.

Many customer conversations at the KATHREIN Digital Systems stand revolved around the streaming functions of the individual products. “The ability to stream the received satellite signal directly to a tablet or smartphone, without Internet access and data rate restrictions, is one of the main differences to other manufacturers. Our customers enjoy the freedom to sit outside their vehicles and watch live TV, it’s a kind of lifestyle,” says Markus Gronbach, district sales manager at KATHREIN Digital Systems.

Camping novices and strong trend towards new vehicles
There were especially many camping novices among the stand visitors. The tenor was that they did not want to miss the advantages of modern TV entertainment in their first motor home. What was also striking was the large number of customers who ordered their new vehicle without a satellite antenna in order to look for alternatives to the standard models. Or who were not willing to pay the surcharges imposed by the vehicle manufacturers. For KATHREIN Digital Systems, this will create a high demand for antenna systems in February and March, when the new vehicles are delivered at the beginning of the camping season.

“I am pleased to say that, all in all, this has been our strongest CMT so far and a perfect start into the year – compliments to the organisers of the consumer show,” says Andreas Wimmer, sales manager at KATHREIN Digital Systems. “Visitors, interest, orders and trends – all signs point to successful growth for our camping satellite antenna solutions.”
